poems 'For Prithivi' by Frank De Canio

(thanks for your kindness)

How like a star in a darkening sky,
appears an unexpected friendly deed.
How much more so when storm warnings belie
the growth potential of one’s kindling seed.
But though my firmament was overcast
from waiting for a bus to get to work –
which forced me to hop in a van, aghast
at paying more – a kindly girl would perk
me up with navigational finesses.
Assuring me the driver was on course,
she gave me, with additional largesse,
a ticket free of charge. Despite that source
of succor, caring less what it was worth,
I prized it as a token of rebirth.

Frank De Canio was born and bred in New Jersey, and works in New York. He loves music from Bach to Amy Winehouse, World Music, Latin, opera. Shakespeare is his consolation, writing his hobby. He attends a Café Philo in Lower Manhattan.
