The Worst of Rhymes
No matter where we choose to sit,
A fool, alone, would not admit,
We’re living in a world of shit
And I have more than done my bit.
Here by the guillotine I knit
Caps for the heads devoid of wit—
I am a useful idiot.

Bald Eagle
Along the seedy interstate,
Another one that has met its fate.
Blind-sided by an unseen foe,
It’s a common sight that we all know.
Struck hard and crushed to maggot swill,
A great symbol once, and now road kill.

Bald Eagle… Wow! Joe, you make me want to start writing again.
So true, Joe..
Two poems most folk can get behind today, no matter where they sit, satire and motifs withstanding – the image of Joe knitting in the front row (no rhyme intended) of Madam Guillotine will take time to erase.
I was wondering if bald eagles getting struck by cars is actually a major problem to their population numbers.
Joe… brilliant as always…
I’m pretty sure Joe is talking about the stinking windmills, or as some prefer to call them, “wind turbines.”
Either way, they are ridiculous.

But, apparently killing the national bird is AOK

I hear that most are killed by monstrous wind turbines.
Joe, you come up with some real zingers. I wouldn’t recommend reading “Bald Eagle” while you’re eating though. I cringe at the sight of roadkill.
Joe, these are up there with your best. The thought of one of these magnificent creatures winding up as road-kill fills me with horror, as does the image of a savvy New Yorker knitting away as heads roll.
Great stuff again.
I guess, Joe, that the impending resignation of Darth Cuomo is not enough to make all New Yorkers lighthearted.
I very thoroughly enjoyed the “useful” idiot verse best. It demonstrates that there’s an often unsung craft to light verse — yes, in my dark humor days I’d call this light. 🙂 [What’s that tee shirt say, “Stalin says dark humor is like food: not everyone gets it.” ?
I think of the “Lost in Space” remake where the spider-things turned on their master at the end for the fall of Cuomo.
