What heights within my mind descend?
To fall on peaks where faith shall end,
As summits fail to comprehend,
That lands beneath cannot ascend,
The pinnacles my thoughts transcend.
As inspirations aimed to call,
Upon our heavened dreams enthralled.
And knock upon its door for all,
The altitudes no longer small,
Are vast in revelation’s hall.
But grandeurs on a higher scale,
Exhibit faith in answers frail.
The temples which my mind inflate,
Are caverns where I hibernate,
For purgatory’s nauseous wait.
And life in spirits glance perchance,
Inspires a mortal souls entrance,
With thoughts inclined to twist and wish,
Ambitions that my wisdom missed,
In ideals that in faith persists.
And judgment’s search for afterlife,
Revealed just ghost’s undying strife,
Pursuing where the veil shall lift,
Above salvation’s timeless gift,
Amongst the lofty depths,………….
………………that tumbled into bliss.

He was the in-house poet for ‘Bahrain Confidential Magazine’ and is one of the most widely read poets in The Middle East. He is a literary critic for ‘Taj Mahal Review’ plus an essayist on the subject of poetry appreciation. There are plans for a new collection of poetry and essays to be released in 2018. David has additional responsibility for the teaching of Wine Appreciation Programmes and Themes which he developed for the hospitality industry, and currently lives in his home country of Ireland.

Very ambitious poem – the rhyme scheme alone is difficult, and you have pulled this off extremely well. Like the opening line – it really does create a sense of perplexing paradox which follows through to the end . Well done.
