‘Two Mourning Doves’ and Other Poetry by Joe Tessitore

Two Mourning Doves

Friendship on the promenade?
I know to some it may sound odd
but there above, two mourning doves
in the weeping willow tree!
They share their grief and find relief
in the bonds that set them free.
For tho’ he cries each time she flies
the tears of love that burn,
while they’re apart, deep in his heart
he knows she will return.

For My Eyes Only

I know all the words
but my heart still runs cold
the greatest deception
this tale that I’ve told

how many are caught
in this web that I’ve spun?
I look in the mirror
and see only one

Joe Tessitore is a retired New York City resident and poet.

Two mourning doves. The poem is small but the feelings are enormous. And there is beauty in the words.
