‘Columbus Statues Defaced (A Haiku)’ and Other Poetry by Joe Tessitore

Columbus Statues Defaced

A haiku

High-jacked history
An Autumn of mutiny
We are lost at sea

A Step Beyond

A step beyond The Enemy lurks
directing his army  of mindless jerks
in the conduct of an Uncivil War
and no one knows what they’re fighting for.

Foundations shake, conventions break
and the privileged take the knee.
Can a step too far eclipse the star
of a land that once was free?

Post your Columbus Day poetry below in the comments section.

Joe Tessitore is a retired New York City resident and poet.

    Columbus was great in fact
We have history to know by that
And the present day is testament to that fact no more no less
But the sub human nature of “modern”
Based on communism all things sodden
Inverts the good and bad no shame
Is the concept of their game
So hate and malice are that love
That “the modern” “views” try to “give” us

    History and all
    Even with a mutiny
    Sea embraces us.
