‘I Saw An Angel Weeping’: A Poem by Michael Walker

.

I Saw An Angel Weeping

I saw an angel weeping
In the graveyard by the brook,
Her silent vigil keeping,
Yet when I turned to look,
She spread her wings before me
To shield me on my way,
And thus, did she implore me
To remember my dying day.
Now, when I stop and listen,
I still can hear her sighs,
And see her sweet eyes glisten,
Reminding me time flies.

Michael Walker hails from Southern California. After earning his master’s degree from the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology, he worked as a Scientist for the United States Navy. His poetry has been featured in Joie de Vivre, and his debut novel, Galahad, was published by En Route Books and Media in 2024.

This is a beautiful meaningful poem. I agree with jd’s comment about the title, such a lyrical line one is sure the poem to follow will do it justice and it does.
