Snow Day

Behold! A winning winter’s day!
The soul of spring is on display:
A vivifying snow is come
And January plays at May.
The blanco-verdant maples sway
And white relights the heavens’ gray
While hills call children out to play.
’Tis only strange the birds are dumb.

The Secret

I wrote a poem in the snow
And what it said, just I will know
_For brighter days have come.

I like the Snow Day concept, Benjamin, especially “blanco-verdant maples” — never heard that term!

Concision & precision are the words of the day
When the mischievous elf comes out to play.

    You rock, Benjamin.

“Snow Day” satisfies the child in me–and “The Secret” intrigues her.

    Two succinct poems.

The Secret is the sort of poem I imagine children would learn and carry around with them, so simple, so profound and so mysterious it is.

Snow Day is a lovely snapshot of a sudden reversal from spring back to winter with some lovely imagery. I especially liked the blanco-verdant maples (giving us a location), and the hills calling the children to play.

    Thanks for the reads, Benjamin.
