poems 'The Polls' and Other Poetry by Russel Winick

.

The Polls

The polls are looking up right now,
__But my faith’s not complete,
Because no poll can measure how
__The Democrats might cheat.

.

.

The Boulder Field

The glacial remnant boulder field,
__A geological delight.
Except a few stones that revealed
__Graffiti some jerk had to write.

.

.

Walking the Walk

Do not assume that wealthy liberals,
Don’t care about poor people and just preen,
For I know one who helped a small soup kitchen,
One afternoon in 2017.

.

.

Walking Biden’s Statements Back

His comments often catch a lot of flak.
You’d have to say misspeaking is his style.
If my job was to walk his statements back,
I’d sure insist on payment by the mile.

.

.

Russel Winick recently started writing poetry at nearly age 65, after ending a long legal career. He resides in Naperville, Illinois.

Delightful, especially “The Polls”. I like the way these poems demonstrate (besides the obvious) which side has a sense of humor.

    The Polls 2

    If Republicans get to lose
They’ll lie as they lied once before.
They’ll get Ted Cruz on to Fox News
To lie as they settle the score.

    Walking Trump’s Lies Back

If I’d a dime for every time
The former guy told a fresh lie,
I’d use his stealth to make my wealth,
Increase my pay each passing day.

You’re welcome, Russel. We may have widely divergent political views, but I have long admired your epigrammatic skills. You say more in 4 lines than many people on here can manage in 44 lines. Keep up the good work.

When democrats lose in a rout
      The narrative turns right about.
      Election denying
      Will be fine and flying
When dems are all on the way OUT.

It’s OK when they do it…

Russel, there’s always a sweet dose of poetic humor to be found in a barrel of bitter truth and these delicious encounters with hilarity prove just that. I love ’em… especially Walking the Walk.
