There is a quiet place
Where we can go to hide.
A place where no one sees us,
That cannot be denied.
There is a quiet place
Where we can go to think.
A place to solve our problems
And get our life in sync.
There is a quiet place
Where we can go to dream.
A place to play around in,
A place to let off steam.
There is a quiet place
Where we can go to pray.
Any time we want to
And as long as we may stay.
Where is that quiet place
That we all hope to find?
It is closer than you think.
I call it peace of mind.

Wonderful thought. By the way on one of my visits to England, I attended one of the plays on a quiet evening. I was sent by the Pentagon as a Lieutenant Colonel to a Military Intelligence Conference. Anyway, I went to an ice cream store and was walking at the top end of Leicester Square near a fountain and heard two guys playing a Buddy Holly song. I have been able to imitate many old time Rock and Roll singers and asked if they would let me sing some Buddy Holly songs. They welcomed me and I sang a couple of them like “Raven on” and “That’ll Be the Day.” I started on “Peggy Sue” and a London Bobby came over and told me to stop. I asked why. He said look behind you! I was between the fountain and a building with some people clapping. When I turned around, I saw the entire square was full! I asked if I could finish the one I started and he said I could. Just then I heard Neener, Neener and a van full of London Bobbies came onto the square. I stopped and turned to the guys, but they had already split. I could just imagine being taken to jail while expected to be at the conference the next day!
Roy, what a most enjoyable anecdote. The music of Buddy Holly and particularly the EverlyBrothers is seared into my DNA from birth. Only in England can you be stopped by the constabulary for having fun. I recall the bobbies turning up to stop the incredible final live performance of the Beatles on the roof of the Apple building. I love “Raven on” by the way. Ha ha. Cheers Jeff.

Roy, this is a beautiful poetic message that serves as a metrical map to that heavenly haven we seek… especially in these troubled times. I have a garden in my head with a lush lawn and the scent of honeysuckle wafting on a warm breeze. I go there to lie on the grass and breathe in the calm more often these days.
