‘Silver Night’ by Sheila B. Roark

January 2, 2013

2

Up in the inky, velvet sky
on this cold winter night
the sky is lit with diamond chips
that glow with spirit light.

Not far away from twinkling stars
a full moon brightly shines
sending down its silvery rays
that light up snowy pines.

Sleeping trees wear ermine robes
provided by the snow
that fell like cotton from the sky
a little while ago.

It is a night of perfect peace
that’s bathed in silver light
provided by the moon and stars
that glow this winter night.

Sheila B. Roark is a poet living in Euless, Texas.

This poem is among the entries for the Society of Classical Poets’ 2012 Poetry Competition.

Hmm it ooks like your website ate my first comment (it
was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I had writte and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the
whole thing. Do you have any recommendations for novice blog writers?
    I’d genuinely appreciate it.
