Three Poems on the Brainwashing of America by Joe Tessitore

I.

My brain just came back from the laundry
they tell me it’s perfectly clean
and it’s thinking the way it’s supposed to
though I’m not really sure what they mean

They tell me I shouldn’t be troubled
not really a cause for concern
my sessions are soon to be doubled
and there’s nothing they can’t make me learn

They tell me I’m doing quite nicely
better than they would ever expect
pretty soon I’ll be thinking precisely
with a brain that’s politically correct

II.

“Who is that’s knocking at my door?”
__“It’s the thought police and you know what for!”
“Have mercy please, I’m old and daft!”
__“It matters not, you get the shaft!”
“I don’t remember what I did!”
__“We found the thought you thought you hid!”
“Remind me then what that might be!”
__“You thought you lived in the Land of the Free!”

III.

If you’re looking to reinforce your views
If you’re not into facts but obsessed with clues
If reality bores you and gives you the blues
Then you know the channel that you must choose
While l hit the couch and cop me a snooze
And you watch my share of weapons-grade news.

Thank you Father Richard. Here’s another I think you’ll enjoy:

      Holy Communion

      As I consume You
      Lord please consume me
In the fire of your love
      And may I always be
      An undying ember
      Forever aglow
In the warmth of the peace
      Only You can bestow

I have Holy cards that I have made of Joseph’s prayer. I distribute them to people at the hospital where I distribute Holy Communion and also it gives great gifts to children receiving their First Holy Communion. If you would like, I can send you a few if you can e-mail your address. Thank you,
      Rose Marie Luther
