‘Summer’s Fall’ by Luke Hahn

poem/yapko/love/sonnet

Oh, the joy of summer’s fall,
Tripping on her tassels tall,
Laughing with such deep release
The ombre maples blush.

How she twirls through apple trees–
Such a brief, chromatic breeze
That the blitheness of her pall
Outdoes the spring-ing thrush.

Luke Hahn is a freshman at Concordia University Wisconsin. He is in their pre-seminary program, specifically as a theological languages major. Last year he won SCP’s high school poetry contest.

    Kip,

    Tis a color: Ombre color
Ombré /ˈɒmbreɪ/ (literally “shaded” in French) is the blending of one color hue to another, usually moving tints and shades from light to dark. … In contrast to ombré, sombré is a much softer and gradual shading of one color to another.
