Canceled

I reckon the outcome is just
So cancel away if you must.
It speaks to the fear
That all Marxists adhere:
“In our victimization we trust!”

Your Foundation

Your foundation is timeless and true.
Generations seek comfort in you.
The Goodness you house,
God’s word you espouse
Enlightens all who pass through.

The Football Gods

The Football Gods have been kind.
This past weekend my pockets were lined
With the proceeds from bets
That paid off my debts
And lightened the load on my mind.

Joseph Mason is a poet in Southern Oregon who works in construction and the lapidary arts. He has been published by Illinois Times.

Joseph, “Canceled” is a perfect jab at the leftists and I applaud you for it. “Your Foundation” is well laid. “The Football Gods” can be arbitrary. I was surprised at the outcome.

I enjoyed reading all three, the last being my favorite.

    Another limerist!

Yes, football has many facets, one being that it’s called football. As for cancellation, it can happen to anyone, at any time if the right tweet, poem, story, etc., is dredged up.

Thanks for the reads, Joseph, and here’s a limerick dedicated to the American dynamic pricing system which we are much taken by.

    Rip-Off World Cup 2026 Limerick

The World Cup of Chaos is here,
    with overdrafts plenty, I fear,
    coz costs reach new heights
    for rooms, tickets, flights –
and how ’bout the price of a beer?

Very insightful limerick, Paul, and more in the traditional vein. Thanks! I’m aware that limericks and humor go hand in hand but I like to use the format for non-traditional poems. Here’s one that will probably get me “cancelled” LOL.

In the crapper beneath where I sit
When my asshole SCREAMED out some shit
      T’was some envious chatter
      ‘Bout my Gatling-gun splatter
Jackson Pollock said … “fuck it, I QUIT!!!”

Just the truth, Joseph. Marxist and post-modernist, they must trust victimization so much as to save it for recycling. “Your Foundation” contrasts well with “Canceled.” And “The Football Gods” breaks away from both in good fun.
