Enjoy the Peace, Prepare for War
“Why can’t we all just get along?”
_I see most every day.
And then there are the peace mongers
_Who get into our way.
Enjoy the peace, prepare for war,
_As long as it may be.
We always have to pay the cost,
_If we are to be free.
Ever since we’ve been on earth,
_Men have been at war.
With unseen principalities
_We must fight o’er and o’er.
When angels in the heavens said
_“Peace be unto you,”
They added on “to men of good will”
_—Not the devilish too.
I really hate those with the sign
_Of the two-fingered peace.
Telling us make love not war,
_While hating the police.
When someone flashes the peace sign,
_And says the words, “Peace Out,”
I rejoin with my own few words,
_“War is what life’s about.”
I hate the word-abuse of “peace,”
_As I hate the thought of hell.
Peace is reserved for heaven’s halls
_Where all God’s children dwell.
While earthly peace is an illusion,
_Peace is still my dream,
But just not here on muddy earth
_Where war still reigns supreme.
Poet’s Note: Bible, Ephesians 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
