Falun Dafa Parade

The heartbeat of a marching band lies in the beating drums,
The power of a sleeping beast that shakes the ground with thrums.
An energy that fills the air and lifts you from your core,
The rising glow within your heart that speaks of so much more.

The center of my universe has always been my faith,
My compass pointing ever North that guides me to my fate.
And when I stumble from the path I listen for the drums,
The heartbeat that is ever there regardless of what comes.

Whenever you are feeling lost just listen for the drums,
A steady and assuring gift of hope that gently hums.
And if you take the time to stop and listen carefully,
You’ll hear upon the beat of drums, a constant melody.

.

Have You Ever Listened

Have you ever listened to a river’s gentle flow?
Or seen the sweet forgiveness in its aquamarine glow?
It passes all that’s in its way but never seeks to change,
A quiet understanding that’s both lyrical and strange.

Have you ever listened to the seed that’s trapped in stone?
Or seen the courage that it took to form its first green bone?
A thousand battles bravely fought, a thousand battles won,
Until at last it can unfurl its petals to the sun.

Have you ever listened to the ancient gingko tree
Or heard the years of wisdom in its aging copper leaves?
It does not fear the silence for that cannot shake its roots;
its strength lies in the freedom and the peace of no pursuits.

Shindy, these are two marvelous poems that flow beautifully depicting with excellent imagery your faith always pointing due North and your enjoyment of the silence of nature with a depth of sensitivity.

    Dear Shindy,

From these two poems, I gather you are a listener. And you hear with your heart as much as with your ears.

Beneath all the turmoil, fear, duplicity and shouting that goes on all around us, that thrum of faith, truth and justice that reminds us what’s truly right and wrong, is indeed sounding.

    Thanks for the reads, Shindy.

Yes, I hear the heartbeat that is ever there, regardless of what comes . . . making a constant melody. How well you express the fidelity of Falun Dafa! The peace within is more apparent in the second poem, questioning the reader about listening. I love the line, “A quiet understanding that’s both lyrical and strange.” The sense comes from all three natural forms you choose: the gentle river, the courageous seed, and the ancient gingko tree. Calm and enduring!

Shindy, your poems reflect peace within; finding strength in faith and solace in the beauty of nature.
“The heart beat of a marching band” and “Have you ever listened to a river’s gentle flow?” I will carry with me always.
