Power of a Pen
Really not much of a treasure,
You can find them anywhere.
They are cheap and made in China—
Seems I always have a spare.
But to name the one possession
I just couldn’t do without,
It’s this ordinary ballpoint
That I prize beyond a doubt.
It’s not fancy or expensive;
I don’t need to plug it in—
Always ready when I need it
To draw out the thoughts within.
It’s essential to my mornings,
The best way my day can start;
An extension of my body,
It’s connected to my heart.
All these feelings and emotions
Would stay locked up deep inside
But this ballpoint has the power
That a laptop can’t provide
It’s my magic wand, my weapon
And my instrument of choice.
If I didn’t have my ballpoint
I would surely lose my voice.
