‘The Real Star’ of the 2026
World Economic Forum
—inspired by quotes from U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent
Gavin Newsom believes he’s the be-all and end-all,
but he’s “Patrick Bateman meets Sparkle Beach Ken” doll.
A psycho who does what those with savoir-faire do,
a shell of a man who’s “in over his hairdo.”
He’s proven he knows less than Kamala Harris
about economics, this fact would embarrass
a human, but Newsom’s so filled with ambition,
he couldn’t care less, he is all politician.
He’s joined at the hip to the family of Soros
who, working together, would cause fewer sorrows
if they, and their brethren would just stay in Davos
collecting and handing out more empty “bravos.”
Poet’s Note: The World Economic Forum held its annual event in Davos, Switzerland, January 19-23. Governor Gavin Newsom was the subject of quite a few memorable quotes while at the event. Alex Soros, who now runs the Open Society Foundation that was founded by his father, George, described Newsom as “the real star of the 2026 World Economic Forum.” On the other hand, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent described him using more colorful imagery: “Patrick Bateman meets Sparkle Beach Ken” (The handsome serial killer in the movie American Psycho.); “in over his hairdo;” and “he knows less about economics than Kamala Harris, which is a terrible place to be in.”
An Inconvenient 20th Anniversary
An Inconvenient Truth, ironically,
made prophecies that, inconveniently,
did not occur as Al Gore had surmised,
yet he’s still treated as if canonized.
His Oscar-winning film specifically
said Arctic summers would soon be ice-free,
and all the melted water, as it surged
meant major cities would soon be submerged.
But he and his disciples can be proud
that they so deftly mesmerized the crowd.
They’re often wrong, but they know we feel good
when we behave the way they say we should.
We’ve now defused the population bomb
by making certain that each future Mom
learns every baby hastens carbon doom,
so thankfully, few plan to use their womb.
To keep our planet safe, their plan extends
to stopping methane gas from cows’ rear ends.
For protein, we will grow, then pulverize
grasshoppers, crickets, and Black Soldier Flies.
We’re also changing power plants to run
on energy derived from wind and sun,
but neither source produces constantly,
so lights will flicker intermittently.
And all the countries with which we compete
nod vigorously, but we know they cheat,
and burn cheap coal to make the goods we buy
while pumping CO2 into the sky.
With no cows, no kids, and no factories,
the cures they push seems worse than the disease,
which should give pause, but no alarmist cares
since they’re all climate multi-millionaires.
Poet’s Note: With twenty years of perspective, An Inconvenient Truth can now be seen as the film that warned about disasters that stubbornly refused to arrive on schedule. Summer Arctic ice that was supposed to vanish by the mid 2010s is still here, Florida is not an underwater Atlantis, and polar bears missed the memo about their extinction. On a more positive note, Al Gore’s personal fortune has ballooned by hundreds of millions of dollars since the film’s release.
Black Soldier Fly larvae are often touted as the best protein source for the environment. They emit negligible carbon, have a very high protein ratio (40-45% of dry body weight), can be grown using inexpensive feedstock such as manure and other agricultural by-products, and are amongst the most efficient converters of feed (53-58% converted to weight gain). It’s unclear whether they taste good.

AOC also exhibited her stupidity at the forum. Gavin Newsom is a real danger and threat to our country. Gavin is part of the extended family of Nancy Pelosi who, herself may have had connections to the Baltimore mob. Newsom’s aunt, Barbara Newsom, was married to Ron Pelosi, who is Nancy Pelosi’s brother‑in‑law. Nancy’s father, Thomas D’Alesandro Jr., a longtime Baltimore congressman and mayor, was investigated by the FBI for alleged associations with Baltimore organized‑crime figures. These investigations focused on political relationships, not family ties. There are so many “inconvenient truths” out there. I wrote a poem using the term several years ago. I applaud your well written political poems and agree completely.
You’re much better informed than I am. I had not heard of all of the shady Pelosi connections. Being in agreement with you is always a safe place to be.
Wow! Gotta love the way you reveal the lies behind the glitter. Newsom is the heir apparent to the Pelosi throne. Every shakedown, USAID, insider trading, the endless scams like the Climate Apocalypse, to name only a very few, puts money in the pockets of the elite and removes it from ours and our children’s. So, Warren, thanks for thinking of the children.
Also, I really like the Poet’s Notes. Your takedown of the Climate Fiasco is brilliant. It makes me wonder how anyone could STILL believe AND push the nonsense unless they are in on the graft. Charitably, I suppose, I could just take them as fools and leave it at that!
Thanks!! Newsom scares me and I couldn’t not laugh when I heard the numerous slams that Scott Bessent directed towards him.
Warren, I’ve been reading a website called “Wattsupwiththat.com” by Anthony Watts since about 2008. He has documented many of the climate lies. His volunteer-powered research on the US weather stations has proven that they are not fit for purpose.
One of the biggest lies is the huge graph at the beginning of An Inconvenient Truth, the movie. Gore never explains that the recent sharp rise did not represent modern instrumental data but instead came from Michael Mann’s bristlecone pine proxy reconstruction… which was spliced onto actual collected data… in other words a huge lie of omission… it has never been corrected… but Watts’ website, at least, has thoroughly documented the affair. Here is one of hundreds of articles on celebrity climate scientist Mike Mann:
https://wattsupwiththat.com/2015/03/10/the-drawn-out-mann-lawsuit-science-is-not-taking-a-stand-for-michael-mann/
The lies are coming fast and furiously and regular people don’t know what to believe… by design. And you are right that laughter is about the only way to handle all the mind-twisting!
Gavin Newsom is stupid (indicated by his public statements on any subject), and grossly incompetent (indicated by the condition of the state he misgoverns). His popularity is based on nothing but good looks, Soros money, and the brainlessness of millennial and Gen Z voters.
As for Al Gore’s fantasies, they have all been exploded by reality. Modern industrialized society runs on coal, oil, natural gas, and cheap steel. The only thing that might be added to th list is nuclear energy, but if you even mention that to some left-liberal asshole, he’ll freak out in an apoplectic fit.
Notice that in both cases, the popularity and influence of both men are the result of celebrity worship, and the spread of fake religions like environmentalism and Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Celebrity worship is a great way to frame the similarity between these two. They’ve latched onto issues adherents fervently believe in, but neither believes what they’re selling. They are certainly both profiting personally in a very significant way from advocacy.
I applaud you, Warren, not so much for keeping your eye on dreary news, though that deserves credit, but for your always well-measured processing it into verse of interest. The crash of the Gore predictions is already history, and I can hope your reminder will add to cooling the clamor over carbon dioxide. You notice that “carbon” itself has become a bad word, though life is made of it. “Every baby hastens carbon doom.” What an identification of precious humanity with greedy consumption! And plants absolutely need carbon dioxide to keep the green growing. But you show the rhetoric moving away from “green” and “plant-based” to favor “black” from those black soldier flies, which may ultimately acquire a meaty taste. Barbecue sauce, carefully applied, should benefit them as much as it does beef. Keep up your saucy production!
Wading through the news is not good for the soul but when I succumb to its pull, every once in a while something like Bessent’s quotes about Newsome will catch my attention. Gore’s failed predictions are old news, but I couldn’t let the 20th anniversary go by without a call-out. I’m certain that he has no intention of ever eating black soldier flies.
I don’t know that much about Gavin Newsom, except that the current president is riled by him and therefore tries to dismiss him with stupid name-calling. And yet a world leader is not expected to be an expert on all areas of governance, which is why they should consult their cabinet and advisors, as well as reading extensively on subjects they need to know about.
As for climate change, it’s a scientifically proven fact, even if you loathe scientists and scientists and find an ’emperor’s-new-clothes’ situation preferable. As Orwell famously said: ‘However much you deny the truth, the truth goes on existing’.
Young people are very aware of the way the world’s headed, which is one reason why they’re not having children. They’re out to enjoy their lives, unburdened, just like the science-denying older generation keep their heads in the sand, winding the clock down and saying they love their children and grandchildren, or worse still, knowing the truth, but not caring because they’ll be gone soon.
When a climate-change / global warming denier covets Greenland because the Greenland Ice Sheet is melting, thereby opening up previously closed sea lanes and making mineral exploitation easier, it should give you pause.
Anyhow, as for the poetry, two workmanlike pieces of satire.
Thanks for the reads.
Thanks for the comments. I’m a big personal fan of the environment. I would take the settled science more seriously if the prediction models ever came true, or if the proposed solutions wouldn’t completely destroy living conditions, or even if the proponents of those solutions lived as if they believed what they’re saying. Maybe they’ll get it all right someday.
You are exactly right, Warren, that a scientific theory fails completely if predictions made on its basis don’t pan out. Also, don’t expect to hear sound science from globalist politicians. They always talk about that 98% of climate scientists who espouse anthropogenic climate change, but no one has ever shown me evidence that such a poll was ever taken. And what the hell is climate change, anyway. The term is so vague that it is scientifically meaningless. Besides, the climate has been changing forever and always will be. We are still coming out of the last ice age. And as Karl Popper has shown, Science is never settled. If Mike Bryant is reading: Maybe it would be a good time, Mike, to post again that video that begins with the UN speech delivered by that Thunberg twit. Mr. Freeman, certainly, and perhaps others are like lemmings wandering in the dark and might be helped by hearing from highly informed sources. And let us not forget Climate Gate.
C.B. Here is the comment I made on Brian Yapko’s “Greta Thornberg’s Smorgasbord of Hate” on January 21, 1923…
But would you believe it… the link doesn’t work anymore… hmmmmmm…
Mike, these were not the video I was talking about. It’s the one in which pre-eminent climatologists were interviewed and pretty much unanimously declared the whole Climate Change thing is a hoax and a scam, with hard evidence.
Hey C.B.
I don’t think this is it either…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBGCjqUdQJQ
But it’s a good one… I’ll keep looking!
The staged detainment of Greta was fact checked by the BBC, but they have selectively edited the videos to leave out the telling bits.
All documented here:
https://wattsupwiththat.com/2023/01/20/who-to-believe-the-bbc-or-your-lyin-eyes/
We’ve moved from our betrayal of the future generations (who probably don’t deserve a future because they have tattoos and body piercings), to slagging off Greta Thornberg and the BBC (which the left don’t like because it’s too right, and the right don’t like because it’s too left), and name-calling.
I guess history will show who the lemmings are.
Let’s have some more deflecting and dubious links to ‘convince’ everyone.
The ones who are the lemmings are people like you, Paul. You have a fixed left-liberal view of the world, and nothing will change it. That’s what’s called a religion, where any contrary opinions are dismissed as “deflecting” and “dubious.”
Excellent, true, and enjoyable satire!
Thank you so much! Every day should include a little satire.
Warren, I love these beautifully crafted, wonderfully rhymed poems that sing a song of wisdom with satirical aplomb! I especially like “An Inconvenient 20th Anniversary” – it should reassure all those alarmed by the alarmists that the globe is still spinning and the snow-sprinkled polar bears are still frolicking, despite decades of doomsday hysteria. Warren, thank you for serving up a much needed helping of poetic sanity in times rife with idiocy!
Thanks!! The climate is ridiculously hard to model, especially since we don’t have a long history of precise temperature readings that truly cover the globe. The most accurate are the satellite readings that do a very comprehensive job, but they obviously don’t go back very far. As a result, the modelers use a lot of extrapolated proxy data and then draw conclusions that so far have not come to pass as they had surmised. Before we destroy our country, we need to make sure that we really understand the situation a lot better.
One more, Warren…
“The BBC reported terrible news recently about polar bears: they are thriving.
This is very annoying of them as it goes against the interests of environmental activists, polar bears being the very emblem, mascot and clickbait of climate change cataclysm. But the bears’ stubborn refusal to get the memo and starve has become too obvious to ignore.
The latest evidence comes from the Barents Sea, and the Norwegian-administered archipelago of Svalbard in particular, where bear numbers have been steadily increasing. Surprisingly, they are also getting fatter, according to measurements taken when bears are caught and weighed. This is despite a decline in sea-ice cover in the area, especially in fall. Even more unexpectedly, the bears are fattest in or after years when the sea ice retreats farthest.”

Perhaps Ursus Maritimus is not as “vulnerable” as Climatus Catastrophus which, as a species, seems to be dying off!
